Four Ways to Treat Acne

Acne is a common skin problem that affects approximately 85% of young adults globally. Factors that contribute to the development of this condition include genetics, hormonal imbalance, stress, and diet. While there are standard clinical treatments for acne, there are other ways to cure and control it. Here are some of them.

Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar contains organic acids that help kill bacteria, control inflammation, and reduce acne scars. Just mix one part vinegar and three parts water and apply to the skin using a cotton ball. Wait for at least 20 seconds before rinsing.

Tea tree oil

Tea tree oil is a known natural acne treatment. It has properties that kill skin bacteria and minimize inflammation. In addition,it also helps prevent dryness and irritation. Mix one part oil with nine parts water before using as a spot treatment for acne.

Cannabidiol (CBD) oil

CBD oil is a known treatment for people with anxiety, depression, and seizure, but it is also a great treatment to acne. Taking CBD orally helps ease breakouts, but there are studies claiming that applying CBD oil directly to the skin gives better results. CBD oil comes in capsules and topical sprays.

Aloe vera

A common ingredient in cosmetic and skincare products, aloe vera has great effects to the skin. It moisturizes, help heal wounds, and even treat burns. It also has salicylic acid and sulfur that are powerful treatments for acne. Simply scrape the gel from the aloe plant and apply to affected area.

These are only some of the alternative ways to treat acne. Take note that the effects may differ from one person to another. It is still best to consult with your dermatologist to find the best solution. When breakouts persist or get worse, seek immediate help from a medical professional.
